Bluvision beacons and sensors leverage TI’s SimpleLink™ Bluetooth® Smart solutions to enable the Internet of Things
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fl. and DALLAS, July 15, 2015 — Today, Bluvision (www.bluvision.com) and Texas Instruments (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) announce the availability of Bluvision IoT sensor beacons with support for Eddystone, an open beacon format from Google, Apple’s iBeacon™ technology and an array of onboard sensor data enabling true Internet of Things (IoT) deployments and delivering relevant proximity based mobile content to consumers.
With full support for Eddystone and iBeacon standards, Bluvision’s IoT sensors leverage TI’s SimpleLink Bluetooth® Smart CC2640 wireless microcontroller which gives Bluvision beacons the longest battery life, flexibility to support all major protocols and the ability to connect to multiple sensors.
“With TI’s Bluetooth Smart CC2640 wireless MCU, we have integrated the most advanced features on our Bluetooth Smart beacons,” says Matthew Johnson, CTO of Bluvision. “With access to the most advanced TI connectivity chipsets, we developed a Bluetooth low energy solution that delivers unparalleled IoT applications and deployments. Our use of TI’s ultra-low power wireless MCUs ensures that we are able to continuously drive innovation in the IoT space.”
As the first beacon technology company to fully support all beacon protocols (iBeacon and Eddystone) Bluvision uses CC2640 to connect beacons and sensors to each other and to the cloud in IoT applications such as indoor navigation, micro-location-based services, asset tracking, inventory management, analytics and beyond, driving IoT into the mainstream.
“We are proud to be the key connectivity component of Bluvision’s new IoT sensors and beacons,” said Amit Hammer, business line director, wireless connectivity solutions, TI. “With Bluvision’s innovative solutions paired with the advanced features of the SimpleLink CC2640 wireless MCU, customers have the tools to create a robust portfolio of IoT devices.”
Bluvision BEEKS are integrated with TI’s CC2640, an ultra-low power, easy-to-use 2.4-GHz wireless MCU in a tiny package targeting Bluetooth Smart applications.
The combination of TI’s Bluetooth Smart technology and Bluvision’s beacons will power future generations of proximity marketing applications that support user experiences with and without an app. Bluvision’s SDK includes support for Eddystone and iBeacon standards allowing developers to create rich, engaging location-based applications for both the consumer and enterprise applications.
